SHARING JOY: Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Art Studio Tour

The Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Art Studio Tour artists translated the theme, ‘Sharing Joy’, through the language of their art, in the hopes of sharing their joy with the community.

The interpretation was a wonderful outpouring of joyous remarks about inspiration coming from our beautiful natural surroundings, our families, pets, and so much more.

‘Sharing Joy’ hopes to remind patrons that art brings joy not only to the beholder, but also to the artists. This artistic connection often invokes perceptions and memories, inspires action, and makes a place or activity more enjoyable.

The ‘Sharing Joy’ exhibit demonstrates how art brings joy, especially in challenging times, and especially when we work together and support one another.

Patrons can expect to see paintings in all mediums, functional pottery, ceramic sculptures, jewelry, sculpture, paper arts, functional art, mosaics, and more. There is a lot of talent in this community.

About the Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Art Studio Tour

For over 20 years, the Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Art Studio Tour has welcomed over 1,500 visitors each year into dozens of open artist studios across the region, showcasing the wealth of artistic accomplishment in the region and giving artists the opportunity to sell their work directly to collectors and art lovers. The ACT Art Gallery has always been proud to be a stop on the tour.

As with so many other arts and culture groups, the pandemic forced the cancellation of the Art Studios Tour scheduled in May 2020 and the organization has made the decision to cancel the 2021 tour in on-site locations as well, amid the uncertainty around gathering restrictions.

When one door closes however, often another opens, and in a ‘pandemic pivot’, The ACT has opened the doors of the Art Gallery for a longer exhibition featuring 20+ artists of the Art Studio Tour, to support and continue connecting artists with patrons.

“Part of the strength of the arts and culture industry is its innate resourcefulness," says Curtis Pendleton, Artistic and Executive Director at The ACT Arts Centre. "We work daily to find creative ways to address challenges and to support each other.”

"The Art Studio Tour is pleased to be building on the success of our previous years, working with The ACT Art Gallery, and hope you’ll enjoy the exhibition as much as we do," adds Kerry McLaren, Co-Chair, Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Art Studio Tour.

Free, timed-entry tickets to the exhibition will open for online booking by the first week of April.
