Classical Coffee Concerts | mainstage theatre
With David Gillham, violin, Valerie Whitney, horn, Chiharu Iinuma, piano
One morning in 1865, German composer Johannes Brahms went for a walk in the woods of the Black Forest and conceived a masterwork - the Trio in E♭ major, Op. 40.
Welcoming violinist David Gillham, hornist Valerie Whitney, and pianist Chiharu Iinuma, this concert explores how this piece was ground-breaking for its time and musically reflects an important period in the emotional life of one of the titans of the Romantic era. Other works on the program will include Brahms’ Hungarian Dances and other well-loved favorites.
