About the show

One of Hawaiian mythology’s greatest epics is interpreted and performed through story, dance, and song by Hālau Hula Ka’Uhane O Ka Pākīpika, an authentic hula school located in Maple Ridge, BC.

Dwelling in the fiery pit of Kilauea, the volcano goddess Pele sends her beloved sister Hi'iaka on a perilous quest: fetch Pele’s lover, Lohi’au, from his chiefdom in Kauai and bring him to her in Hawai’i. Can Hi’iaka find her power and embrace the goddess within to face down storms, monsters, and even her own sister’s famous fiery temper?

A story of betrayal, healing, and reconciliation, this epic tale is the ultimate testament to the enduring power of love.
