The Case For Daydreaming
2024 Juried Exhibition

The ACT Art Gallery’s Annual Juried Exhibition is an open call showcase of artworks responding to a specific theme, taking place in November and December each year. The exhibition is an opportunity for emerging Lower Mainland-based artists to show their work in a gallery setting. The call allows for a wide range of mediums including painting, photography, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, textiles, woodworking, and mixed media.

The 2024 Juried Exhibition is The Case for Daydreaming, which brings attention to the positive impacts of allowing our imaginations to roam. Whether processing an idea for a creative project, or brainstorming a better tomorrow, daydreaming is a powerful tool. In a time of a demanding attention economy, using our creative minds for ourselves or with others carries infinite possibilities.

To spark your imagination:

  • What happens when you focus your attention on intricate details?

  • Where does ‘big picture’ thinking lead you to?

  • If you could dream up a better future, what does it look like?

  • Do you have an idea you’ve always wanted to explore?

  • Where does your mind wander to?

Submission Guidelines:

  • Artists may submit a maximum of three works for consideration.

  • Accepted mediums: painting, photography, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, textiles, and mixed media.

  • All artwork must be prepared for hanging or installation. A wire is preferred for 2D works.

Other Information:

  • Artists are responsible for transport of artworks to and from The ACT Art Gallery.

  • Selected artists can submit prices for their work to be sold during the exhibition.

  • Sales of artwork must be processed through The ACT during the run of the exhibition.

  • The ACT retains 30% commission + 2% transaction processing fee on all sales.

  • The ACT remits payment to exhibiting artists within 10 days of the exhibition closing.
