The Garibaldi Art Club presents an exhibition of energetic and uplifting art for the community as a waypoint for the happier times to come.
The Garibaldi Art Club has been in existence for over 60 years and its members have been exhibiting their artwork both in Maple Ridge and other communities during this time. Annually, they hold a non-juried exhibition which is open to all of its members and has always been a popular event in the community.
This year, their exhibition, A Touch of Red, has been developed to be energetic and uplifting for the community, after these trying times during the pandemic. Each participating artist has been asked to incorporate the colour red in their artwork to signify happier times to come.
The colour red is powerful. It has the ability to uplift, to energize and bring us warmth on cold winter days. It is a festive colour which sparkles like small rubies and garnets, creating a pop of colour, demanding our attention.
The Garibaldi Art Club invites you to immerse yourself in each art piece and to seek out the red colour it offers. Notice the varying shades and tints of red. From soft and gentle pinks, bright cherry reds to intense crimson and lush dark burgundy, each one evoking a different emotion.
With a Touch of Red, the hope is that you will be uplifted and energized to enjoy the upcoming warm and cozy winter season.
Live Demonstrations
Visit The Gallery every Tuesday between 10am - 12pm to see a live demonstration of the artist’s process.
Eric Hotz - November 30
Come and join Eric Hotz, as he illustrates how he starts his landscape painting, roughly drawing out his subject on canvas. He will then take us to a second canvas where he will show us the steps he takes working on a painting to near completion.

Second date added: Thursday, December 09
Join Tammy as she shares the stories behind her inspirational designs. She will take us step by step through the initial pencil sketch, choosing her colour palette, alternating layers of acrylic colour with black linework, editing "mistakes", and finally adding details with PrismaColor pencils.
